BIBLICAL THEMES IN CONTEMPORARY FILM - Course Offerings and Services Available

"Biblical Themes in Contemporary Film" is a course authored by Doug Michaud.  He will personally teach all of the following course offerings.  The lesson plans presented will be on the basic eleven biblical themes in the contemporary film course. The eleven basic themes are as follows:

 God's Call
Prayer
Eucharist
Redemption
Metanoia (Conversion)
Law vs. The Spirit
The Holy Spirit
Christian Community
Church and The World
Mission
Mary

Evening Adventures in the "Reel" Bible:

This option offers the chance to enjoy one lesson plan for two of our biblical themes, or two lesson plans for one theme - the choice is yours!  The evening presentation is one and a half hours.

Price: $175. (Add $50 per lesson plan outline and instruction material for one theme.)

Workshops:

There are two options available under the Workshop format:

The first option offers three hours of instruction. The format would be an 8:30 AM to 12:00 Noon Workshop consisting of two "one and a half hour presentations" with a half hour break in-between.

The presentations would be on the first five biblical themes studied in the course with one lesson plan per theme illustrating how the themes resonate in contemporary film.*

Price: $ 475. (Add $250 for 5 lesson plan outlines and instruction material for five themes, if copyright for lesson plans and course content is desired. Or, add $50 per lesson plan outline and instruction material for one theme.)

The second option is the full day Workshop offering seven hours of instruction on all ten biblical themes studied in the course. One lesson plan per theme will be presented, illustrating how the themes resonate in contemporary film.*

The format for the day would be a morning session from 8:30 AM to 12:00 Noon, followed by lunch and then an afternoon session from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Both the morning session and the afternoon session would consist of two "one and half hour presentations" with a half hour break in-between.

Price: $775. (Add $500 for 10 lesson plan outlines and instruction material for five themes, if copyright for lesson plans and course content is desired. Or, add $50 per lesson plan outline and instruction material for one theme.)

*It is expected that DVD equipment will be provided since presentation of scenes from films will be a substantial part of the Workshop.

Seminars:

The same two options as described above are available under the Seminar format. The Seminar options are, however, limited to groups of no more than 15 participants, all of whom are to be of at least of collegiate age (18 years old) and above. The pricing on the Seminar options represents a 20% increase in cost for the same presentations and instruction given in the Workshop format.

Option 1: the three hour Seminar.*

Price: $570 (Add $250 for 5 lesson plan outlines and instruction material for five themes, if copyright for lesson plans and course content is desired. Or, add $50 per lesson plan outline and instruction material for one theme.)

Option 2: the full day Seminar (7 hours).*

Price: $930 (Add $500 for 10 lesson plan outlines and instruction material for ten themes, if copyright for lesson plans and course content is desired. Or, add $50 per lesson plan outline and instruction material for one theme.)

*It is expected that DVD equipment will be provided since presentation of scenes from films will be a substantial part of the Workshop.

The Full Course Options:

All the Full Course options offer the opportunity to experience three lesson plans for each of the ten basic theological themes of the course.

Option 1: The Workshop format - 3 full Workshop days with one Workshop monthly over a three month period. See the description of the full day Workshop above for the Workshop Day requirements and schedule. The total cost of the Full Course Workshop option represents an approximate 20% discount over the cumulative cost of three Workshop days purchased, for example, one at a time over a full school year period.

Price: $1875 (Add $50 per lesson plan outline and instruction material for each of the ten themes, if copyright for lesson plans and course content is desired.)

Option 2: The Seminar format is 3 full day Seminars with one Seminar monthly over a three month period. See the description of the full day Seminar above for the Seminar Day requirements and schedule. The total cost of the Full Course Seminar option represents an approximate 20% discount over the cumulative cost of three Seminar days purchased, for example, one at a time over a full school year period.

Price: $2250 (Add $50 per lesson plan outline and instruction material for each of the ten themes, if copyright for lesson plans and course content is desired.)

Option 3: The Full Course during Evenings or on Saturdays requires 10 "one and a half hour classes" (21 hours) scheduled once a week over a ten week period. The Evening or Saturday option is offered in both the Workshop and Seminar format, and pricing for the Evening or Saturday format is the same as for Full Course Options 1 and 2 above.

Option 4: The Full Course can also be offered as part of the curriculum of a high school or college Theology department. Where this has been the case, the course quickly became one of the most popular courses in the school. Pricing for the course in this context follows the school's pay schedule which determines what Faculty receive for each course.
